On Wednesday July 1, 2020 the Mendon Town office will be closing at 1:00pm and will be closed July 2, 2020 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. We hope you have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

The Mendon Town Office is now open to the public, at this time the office hours will be 9:00 – 4:00 Monday -Thursday. Research will continue to be by appointment only. Only one researcher at a time is allowed in the office. Appointments can be made by calling 802-775-1662 or emailing [email protected].   When you contact us to make an appointment, please let us know how long you plan on being in the office.  Although the office is open, we encourage you to transact as much business as possible via phone or email. Thank you and be well!

Office rules during this time are as follows:

  1. Please book as much time as you think you will need.  If someone makes an appointment after you and you are not done with your search, you will need to leave and book another appointment in the future.
  2. You may not enter the office if you are currently experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, headache, recent loss of taste of smell, or any other symptom of a respiratory illness or if you have had contact with a person who is COVID-19 positive.
  3. You must wear a mask at all times. (You supply your own mask).
  4. You must either sanitize your hands upon entry or wear gloves at all times. (The Town will supply the gloves).
  5. You must bring all of your own office supplies (pens, paper clips, stapler, etc.)
  6. When your search is complete, please leave any books you used on the table in the vault so staff can wipe them down.
  7. Please wipe down the copier and the counter where you were working when you have finished your search.
  8. Bathroom facilities are not available at this time.

In accordance with state statutes, all dogs must be registered by April 1st each year. The Selectboard has decided to waive the late fees to register your dog for the remainder of the year.

A valid rabies certificate is required to register a dog.  For your convenience we do accept updated rabies certificates in the mail with a check for registration.  We are happy to mail your tag and registration back to you.  Please contact the Town Office for more information 802.775.1662.

Residents that would like to drop off Green Up items at the Regional Transfer Station on Gleason road must call them to set up an appointment: (802) 775-7209 x206. Requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis. All Regional Transfer Station users are required to show their permit upon entry to the facility. No household garbage is accepted in green bags for free. You must bring trash/litter picked up from illegal disposal contained in green bags in order to dump at no cost.

We would like to remind you of safe Green Up practices as well as Covid-19 precautions and requirements.
The following programs are on hold and not currently accepting materials: hazardous waste and scrap metal. If one finds tires or freon-containing appliances that have been illegally disposed of, and desires to bring them to the Regional Transfer Station please call (802) 775-7209 x206.
