NOTICE OF BOARD OF CIVIL AUTHORITY HEARINGS

Pursuant to the provisions of 32 V.S.A. §4404(b), notice is hereby given that the Board of Civil Authority within and for the Town of Mendon will on Tuesday, August 02, 2022at 4:00 p.m. meet at the Town Office – 2282 US Route 4, Mendon, VT 05701 to hear appeals of persons, or other parties, who are aggrieved by the action of the board of listers and have timely filed their written appeals with the Town Clerk.  Hearings will continue as scheduled with appellants until all aggrieved parties are heard.

The Vermont Primary Election is August 9, 2022. Polls open at 8am and close at 7pm. Please click the Warning below for more information.  The sample ballots are posted below as well, you will receive all three ballots but will only be voting on one ballot.

To register to vote in Vermont, you must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Vermont, and 18 years or older on or before the next election. To register to vote your principal dwelling place must be in Mendon.

Absentee voting is available for every election as soon as the ballots are ready, approximately 30 days prior to the election. If you would like to run for Justice of the Peace for the Town of Mendon please review the information below.

Independent justice of the peace candidates must file a consent of candidate form with the town clerk in order to be placed on the ballot in the general election (November 8, 2022). These consent forms must be filed no sooner than Monday, April 25 2022, and no later than 5 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2022 (3 days after the primary).

Below are a consent of candidate form, information for Justice of the Peace Candidates, and a petition that must be signed by ten registered voters.

Mendon Draft LHMP Update

A draft of the first half of the Mendon Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP), which includes an Introduction, Purpose, Community Profile, and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, is ready for public review.  A brief overview of the work to date will be provided at the June 13, 2022 Mendon Selectboard meeting at 5 PM.  Copies of the plan are available on the Mendon Town website as well as at the Town Office.

At the June 27, 2022 Mendon Selectboard meeting, the draft plan will be discussed and there will be an opportunity to share public comments.  In addition, comments on the draft plan can be submitted to Sara Tully, Mendon Town Administrator, by email until June 27, 2022 – [email protected]
